The bounty of the sea, the rich land all around
It’s not complicated, fresh seafood from the sea at our toes, great produce from the countryside at our backs. Local when it’s best, British when it’s right, international when it’s called for. Naturally seasonal and with no fleeting fads or fickle food fashions – whether you need a poached egg on toast or a six course banquet, our acclaimed restaurant is bespoke and classically modern. We like a well dressed table, but we don’t stand on any ceremony; if you want one course, three puddings, to work your way through the whole menu alphabetically or topographically that’s fine. Our view is that dinner takes as long as you need it to.
Bookings for up to 12 guests can be accommodated in the restaurant or for larger parties get in touch for private dining and events.
Gazing out to sea whilst breakfasting like a Captain is the perfect place to start or end a morning’s walk along the cliff tops and beaches of the stunning Jurassic Coastline. Or the prelude to a day’s reading and dreaming.
Whether you’re looking for a damn good lunch or a working meal, both require fine food and a suitable environment. We have one of the finest dining rooms in the country with unparalleled views over the ever-changing seascape of Lyme Bay.
As the sun sets over Lyme Bay and the sea and sky play out one last dance before fading to inky blackness, our splendid dining room transforms into an intimate and candlelit harbour where we can concentrate on the serious business of dinner.
Afternoon Tea at The Seaside Boarding House is a grand new tradition in West Dorset. Finely cut sandwiches, our own freshly baked scones with Cornish clotted cream & home made strawberry jam, freshly baked cakes & biscuits.
No trip to the seaside is quite complete without a crab sandwich, a bowl of chips and of course a silver coupe filled with a scoop of homemade ice cream topped with warm salt caramel sauce.
