The restaurant looks out on the shifting seascape of Lyme Bay. French windows open onto a wide terrace with views stretching from Portland Bill in the east, to Start Point in the west.
The Seaside Boarding House sits in the heart of one of England’s finest larders, with local fishermen pulling crab, lobsters and a wide range of wild fish from the sea below, and a tapestry of small-holdings on the land behind supplying hand-reared produce. Our own stock can also yield salad, herbs, vegetables and even eggs.
From the first bite to the last sip we aim to source sustainable, seasonal and local produce wherever possible; from a Bridport smoked kipper or the free-range organic bacon at breakfast, to a crab sandwich, wrapped in greaseproof paper ready to take down to the beach. From fresh landed turbot to local rose ‘veal’ or Afternoon Tea. Just about the only thing we can guarantee won’t be West Country will be our coffee – rich, oily-beaned and freshly ground from far across the sea.
